The students and staff of Bella Bella Community School stand together in opposition to the proposed Enbridge Pipeline that would bring supertankers filled with oil along the coast of the Great Bear Rainforest, jeopardizing the environment upon which we rely for sustenance, both physical and spiritual. We will be engaged in a 48-hour hunger strike from April 1st at 4 pm to April 3rd at 4 pm. This coincides with the Enbridge hearings in our community. We hope to open a dialogue with other concerned students from around the province and communicate through video conferencing during our hunger strike. We invite your school or community to join us in our strike and help make a statement that can’t be ignored.

The beating of drums echoed throughout the seaside community of Prince Rupert, BC, on February 4 as thousands of First Nations and BC citizens banded together to express their opposition to the proposed Enbridge Northern Gateway twin pipelines from the Alberta Tar Sands to nearby Kitimat on BC’s central coast. Watch this exclusive documentary video report on the historic gathering – featuring the Gitga’at drummers and dancers of Hartley Bay, young aboriginal signer-songwriter Ta’kaiya Blaney, local political leaders, and a number of powerful First Nations speakers.

Northern Gateway backers have upper hand: Poll | Canada | News | Toronto Sun

Please note we don’t agree with the numbers because like the poll earlier in BC. The problem is most people in Canada have not fully understood the full story. Secondly this paper is a pro-Harper, pro-pipeline paper, notorious for slanting the news.

A Little Advice for Enbridge [1-24-12 11:35 AM] on MSN Video

This video is a perfect example of how out of touch the corporate world, corporate thinking is with First Nations reality. Read what the First Nations people are saying ( aboriginal testimony ) these folks think of successful as measured by how well you managed to compete in the corporate world. Even more staggering is that these same people actually think all non-aboriginals think of success equals wealth in cash and “white man’s assets”.

Beth Wallace, who works with the National Wildlife Federation and also grew up in Battle Creek, Michigan, describes the devastation of the Enbridge oil spill into the Kalamazoo River in July 2010. Enbridge wants to build the Northern Gateway pipeline to transport Alberta tar sands oil through the Rocky Mountains to Kitimat, British Columbia on the Pacific Coast.

This presentation was part of the Think Pipeline Speaking Tour in late 2010 which visited 8 communities in B.C. including Prince George, Vanderhoof, Houston, Burns Lake, Smithers, Terrace, Prince Rupert, and Kitimat. The sponsoring organizations included Friends of the Wild Salmon, Sea to Sands Conservation Alliance, Friends of Morice Bulkley, SkeenaWild, Northwest Watch, Douglas Channel Watch, and Prince Rupert Environmental Society.

ENBRIDGE CAUGHT COVERING UP OIL SPILLS / Dont let this happen to BC

This is what will happen to BC and BC’s coast if we the people of BC and the rest of Canada allow Enbridge to build their pipeline.

Another thing to note is that the spills are toxic and poisonous. If they happen near residential areas as they did in Michigan, they can make people very sick, cause seizures, and even cause comas or death. Very dangerous and Enbridge does not want to spend the millions cleaning it up when they can just hide it in the woods under rock and grass.

When a spill occurs in our treacherous waters it will flow all down the coast of BC destroying fishing and tourism. People will lose their jobs, careers, livelihood, and BC which relies a lot on tourism and fishing will suffer as the people will.
